Current Staff Opportunities, 2017-2018 School Year (Updated 11/08/17)
The administrative assistant position is a full time role responsible for a variety of administrative tasks in the school. Tasks may include admissions paperwork and responding to parents, organizing special education files, taking phone calls, and others. Strong organizational skills, relational ability, and prior experience in schools preferred.
The admissions coordinator is a full time role responsible for all aspects of the school admissions process. Job roles include developing recruitment materials, hosting open houses, processing incoming applications, data entry for enrollment, and extensive interaction with parents and students. Successful candidates will be charismatic, able to impart excitement about the mission of Freire Charter School, and extremely organized. Prior experience in the above areas and in schools preferred.
The math specialist is a full time role dedicated to improving the math performance of our students. The math specialist will support math instruction by teaching a reduced number of half-size classes (12 – 15 students) and designing math interventions, with a primary focus on 8th grade. Delaware teacher certification and at least two full years of math teaching experience required, experience in urban school settings preferred.
The math interventionist is a full or part time role that supports math instruction through small group and one-on-one tutoring. The math interventionist should be able to demonstrate proficiency in math (via assessments, coursework, etc). Teaching or tutoring experience preferred but not required.
The instructional paraprofessional role is a full time position dedicated to supporting individual and small groups of students, particularly those with higher academic needs. Requirements: paraprofessional certification in Delaware OR completion of the prerequisites on the following page: https://deeds.doe.k12.de.us/registration/deeds_reg_paraeducator.aspx.
The building substitute is a full time position whose primary role is to substitute for any teachers who are absent on any given day. If no teachers are absent, the building substitute will also serve in a secondary role as a paraprofessional to provide instructional support where needed.
The long term substitute is a full time temporary position (with benefits), from mid-November through early January. Responsibilities include teaching full time for a teacher out on leave. All plans will be provided.
