Freire Charter School Wilmington is currently seeking a part-time Driver’s Education teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. The position will run through the end of the school year in mid-June 2017. Instruction will last approximately 2 hours per day.
Freire staff members are forward-thinking team players who are passionate about working with and unleashing the potential of urban youth. We seek candidates who value diversity, are highly motivated, and who will demand excellence from both the students as well as themselves.
Successful candidates will have the following attributes:
- Previous successful experience working with urban youth
- DE Certification in Driver’s Education OR in process of getting DE certification, which requires:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited 4-year college or university
- Passing scores on examinations approved by the Delaware State Board of Education and Professional Standards Board in reading, writing, and mathematics (e.g. PRAXIS I)
- 6 college credits in driver education or equivalent courses offered by DE DOE, plus sufficient progress toward 15 other required credits (see Title 14 DE Admin Code 1553: http://regulations.delaware.gov/AdminCode/title14/1500/1553)
- Valid driver’s license
- No more than five points total from any jurisdiction on your driving record
- Not have had your driver’s license suspended, revoked, or disqualified in any jurisdiction in the last five years
- Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do “whatever it takes” to get a job done
- Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
