A very warm welcome from our community here at Freire Charter High School in Wilmington, Delaware!
There’s been a lot going on at the school since we opened our doors in August of 2015, and we’re excited to be continually growing to become a complete 8th – 12th grade high school providing a full Freire education.
But what is a Freire education?
At its core, a Freire education is about making sure every student receives a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum in an environment that is nurturing to the whole child and safe. Over the past fifteen years, we’ve developed a highly successful curriculum of challenging courses—including AP classes and dual credit opportunities–and we’re proud to graduate college-ready individuals.
Equally important, we know that for students to be successful in their lives we can’t only focus on the academics and must educate the whole person. So at Freire, we make sure to help our students grow in their emotional, social, and civic development in their classes and through a wide variety of projects and extra-curricular activities. Our students are not just learners—they are leaders.
So ask yourself: do you want to go to college, and are you willing to work hard in a safe and supportive place to get there? If the answer is yes, we invite you to join our committed and dynamic community.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions at all—I’d love to hear from you.
