Freire Charter School Wilmington is developing a proposal to offer a 21st Century Community Learning Center after-school and summer program for Freire students, to be located at the school, for students needing support and enrichment. The grant application to fund this program is due to the Delaware Department of Education this coming Tuesday, January 10, 2017. It will be submitted jointly by Freire Wilmington and the Delaware Contemporary Museum.
This federally-funded grant is highly competitive. If funded, the program will be free to Freire students and is expected to run for 3 to 5 years. A copy of the full grant application as submitted will be kept at the school for parents and community members to review as desired after the application is complete.
We would love your input on this grant submission! If you have thoughts or suggestions about what after-school activities Freire should seek to fund through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, and/or what community partners you would like to see the school partner with to host this after-school program, please contact Ms. Felicia at felicia.wenell@freirewilmington.org by the end of the day on Tuesday, January 10.
